Empire Equestrian Academy Riding Lesson Program Policies

Pricing: Effective June 1, 2025, lesson pricing will be as follows:

  • Trial Lessons (30 minutes): $100

  • Single Program Lesson (45 minutes): $110

  • Monthly Lesson Package (4 lessons, 45 minutes each): $380

It is required that you purchase a lesson package to guarantee your preferred weekly riding time. Scheduling priority will be given to package students. Package lessons must be used within the month they are purchased (i.e. a package purchased in May must be used in May). Any unused lessons at the end of the month will be forfeited.

Pre-payment for lessons is required. We accept checks, cash, or Zelle.

Scheduling: Trial lessons are 30 minutes and Progran lessons are 45 minutes. Lessons will start promptly at the scheduled lesson time. We ask that you arrive for your scheduled lesson time 10-15 mins early in order to put on your helmet, boots, etc. Going forward, lessons will end on time, regardless of the time they start. If you arrive late, your lesson will be shortened to allow trainers 15 mins between lessons for horse care.

Barn hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Lessons are scheduled within these hours amidst training, grooming and care/maintenance schedules. Lesson hours are generally from 4 PM to 8 PM T-F  with the last lessons scheduled at 7 PM. We can/will accommodate morning lessons beginning at 10 AM. No lessons will be scheduled between 1 PM and 3 PM during the week. Saturday and Sunday lessons are from 8 AM to 2 PM.

Cancellations:

If you need to cancel a scheduled lesson, you can do so by emailing us at empireequestrianmiami@gmail.com at least 24 hours in advance and you will be allowed to reschedule that lesson within the month. If lessons are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, the value of the lesson will forfeited. We have two horses in our lesson program and a busy schedule, and your consideration in this matter allows us to accommodate everyone while keeping our horse’s well-being the priority. The lesson schedule will be shared at the beginning of the month to allow time to notify us of any conflicts.

Repeated absences without notice will not be tolerated, and Empire Equestrian Academy reserves the right to terminate participation in the lesson program for this reason, with no refund for unused lessons.

Makeup Lessons: Makeup lessons are subject to availability and may be rescheduled as part of a group lesson. In the months where heavy rain is expected, Empire Equestrian Academy will do its best to cancel/reschedule lessons with notice. In the event a lesson is cancelled due to weather, students will be allowed to make up the lesson as the schedule permits (lesson will not be forfeited).

Choice of Horse & Instructor

Lessons will be scheduled based on both horse and trainer availability. We can not guarantee that students will ride the same horse with the same instructor for every lesson, but do our best to maintain consistency and to accommodate preferences noted in advance.

Jumping

Jumping will take place during lessons based on the lesson horse’s schedule. Horses generally can not/should not jump more than 2-3 times per week and our horses teach multiple lessons per day. For students who lesson weekly, this means you may not be permitted to jump in every lesson. A strong flat foundation is required to jump successfully. If you’d like to guarantee a weekly jumping lesson, we require you to have a lesson bi-weekly (one flat lesson and one jumping lesson).

General Barn Rules

  1. Students must be accompanied by an instructor when handling horses. At no time for any reason should a student enter horses’ stalls without an instructor’s express permission and an instructor present.

  2. Only instructors and riders (during their scheduled lesson time) are permitted in the riding ring. Friendship/family, siblings, etc. are welcome to watch lessons from our viewing area.

  3. No dogs or pets belonging to clients or to their friends are allowed on the property at any time.

  4. All riders must be appropriately attired, including an ASTM certified riding helmet, appropriate riding pants, and substantial boots with a heel.  Bare feet, sandals, and open-toed shoes are not permitted in or around the barns.

  5. We are proud to offer full service lessons to our clients, which includes all horse preparation and after care. Students should only handle horses on the ground under an instructor’s direction and supervision. After lessons, all horse care will be handled by an instructor or groom.

  6. The majority of the horses in our barn are private boarders for whom Empire Equestrian is responsible.  While you are welcome to visit all of our horses, we ask that you respect us and their owners by refraining from feeding or handling any horse other than that with which your lesson is scheduled. At no time should stall doors be opened for any reason.

  7. Empire Equestrian Academy is not responsible for personal property left at the barn. Students are expected to keep track of their personal belongings. Tack room and trunk space is reserved for boarders and lessors.
